The idea of creating SOS children's towns was based on four principles:

1. mother
2. brothers and sisters
3. house
4. playground.

During his lifetime, Hermann Gmeiner founded 230 children’s towns around the world, for which he and the organization itself were nominated for the Nobel Prize three times. Currently, more than 550 children’s towns have been built and are operating in the world!

SOS Children’s Towns is a unique alternative to orphanages, a place where every child gets the opportunity to grow up in a loving family. A place where orphans and children left without parental care live in foster families, receiving everything they need for full development in an atmosphere of love, respect and trust.

Over 72 years of the organization’s activity, more than 4 million children around the world have received assistance!

We build families for children in need, help them shape their future, and develop the communities in which they live.

Since 1949, we have built a solid foundation of trust with donors, government agencies and other partners who support us in our mission. Our main responsibility is to guarantee the well-being of children through high standards of education. In this mission, we are committed to using all funds and resources rationally, carefully and with transparent reporting.
